"you are a part of my story" “Painting is too difficult”, “painting is not my thing”, “nope, I am not artistic”, “…and I can’t even hold a brush properly” or the worst “you are an artist? Is that even a real thing?” These are some of the statements I heard people say when they talk about art or craft. And I always tell them, everyone is an artist and everybody is creative in their own way. Hello, I am Sayyami Chippa. A self-taught visual artist! My grandfather was a painter. He always used to tell me, if your ocean is orange and has people living in it, then that’s how the ocean is. It’s your ocean. Don’t let the world paint your ocean for you. Those words inspired me and changed my life at the same time. No art is simple or difficult. It’s just different and unique to everyone. If your brain can manufacture ideas, then you are an artist!
